Winehouse's Dad Breaks His Own Dictate and Talks to Media, Her Husband Writes an Old-Fashioned Diary

Winehouse's Dad Breaks His Own Dictate and Talks to Media, Her Husband Writes an Old-Fashioned Diary

Amy Winehouse is “sorry for fans” after canceling her current tour, according to her media-loving father, Mitch Winehouse. Mitch also told the BBC that ending the tour so Amy could take a full rest “is in her best interests.” The comments come two days after a Winehouse press release stated, “Her family has requested that the media respect Amy’s privacy at this time. There will be no further comment.” Maybe Mitch didn’t get the memo. Winehouse’s dad also said that “all options” are being considered for the singer, including a much-needed stay in a rehabilitation center. Amy blames the nixed tour on the emotional and physical fatigue she’s suffering as she remains separated from her husband/enabler Blake Fielder-Civil.
Fielder-Civil currently stews away in a London jail cell until January 18th, as he’s accused of beating up a pub owner, then trying to “pervert justice” by bribing his victim (sadly, that charge is unrelated to those lovable Dateline molester-catchers, Perverted Justice). To kill time as he awaits the day he and his wife are reunited and can start beating the hell out of each other again, Fielder-Civil has started writing a diary (yes, a diary, not a blog, for you youngsters), that he passes along to Amy so that she “feel as if they’re still sharing life and he’s with her every day,” according to Fielder-Civil’s mother, Georgette. “Blake thinks that if Amy has a little thing to do for him each day that’ll propel her on, give her something to work towards and get her out of bed in the morning,” Georgette explained. Diaries are okay, but once Fielder-Civil starts using that pen to start writing songs like “Popazoa,” we’re gonna have issues.

Nothing goes together better than a desert, a little SPF 95 and Santa Claus, does it? Add in some killing with appropriately enough-The Killers, and you've got a fun little nugget, with a nice hook called "Don't Shoot Me Santa."...

A Conversation With Jimmy Page and Robert Plant
John Paul Jones, Led Zeppelin's bassist and keyboard player, was
quietly playing backgammon and half listening to a phone-in radio
talk show on New York FM.

"I was in a club last night when someone asked me if I wanted to
meet Jimmy Page," the show's host suddenly offered between calls.
"You know, when I think about it, there's no one I'd rather meet
less than someone as disgusting as Jimmy Page."
Jones bolted up from his game. "Let me just say that Led Slime
can't play their way...

The other day I was in Uniqlo (aka “The Japanese H&M”) and I totally LOLED when I saw this photo:

Doesn’t this dude look like the Asian version of Pete Wentz? The straight flat-ironed black hair, the pursed lips, the striped sweater? C’mon! Does anyone else see what I’m talking about?

November's been a good month for New Order covers. Earlier this month of course we geeked to Thom & Co.'s "Ceremony" while warming ourselves in the glow of Radiohead's laptop-side chat, and today PRI spreads word that Broken Social Scenester Kevin Drew sat a spell with Faith Salie and her "Fair Game" show to cover "Age Of Consent." By Kev's admission it's a "voice-shot, piano, hand-shaking New Order cover," which roughly translates to piano-and-vocals. It's a little quiet and a little dull, but the full session's worthwhile, including "Safety Bricks" (better) with fellow BSSer Brendan Canning, "Have A Life," and a Q&A with Faith. Also Faith interviews filmmaker Noah Baumbach (of The Squid And The Whale fame) and a scientist guy who claims average IQs go up with each generation. Told ya, Dad. Grab MP3 at Fair Game.
